About La Manzanilla
La Manzanilla is a small, mainland pueblo of 1500 situated on the beautiful Tenacatita Bay. It is located 3 hours south of Puerto Vallarta and one hour north of Manzanillo. The pueblo was traditionally a fishing village, and remains so, although some locals are now learning building skills, and providing services to a small and growing foreign community. Although we foreigners are primarily a winter presence, the town and its culture remain strong and visible. There is a beautiful blending of cultures and friendships blossoming among us. La Manzanilla is situated along a spectacular beach, has numerous good restaurants, and a variety of lodging options. The feeling is friendly and welcoming. The long crescent shaped beach offers soft sand and wonderful swimming. Winter temperatures range between 70 & 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The main roads are paved. There are numerous little stores for groceries and essentials. There is no post office or bank in town, but busses run frequently to Melaque, ½ hour away. Most people fly either to Manzanillo and travel to La Manzanilla by taxi, or to Puerto Vallarta and travel south by bus. For more information, see “La Manzanilla links” on the “Events” page.
